Assessment and Quantification of Methane Emission from Indian Livestock and Manure Management

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Tue, 04/02/2024 - 10:02

Methane (CH4) is one of the most abundant organic trace gases in the atmosphere having a strong global warming potential of 28 in 100 years, is a significant GHGs, and has a vital role in atmospheric chemistry and climate change. India is home to the largest number of livestock in the world and is responsible for higher methane emissions from enteric fermentation and manure management.

Quantification and assessment of hazardous mercury emission from industrial process and other unattended sectors in India: A step towards mitigation

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Tue, 04/02/2024 - 09:55

Hazardous pollutants like Mercury (Hg) have emerged as a pressing challenge in recent times where the expanding industrial sector is regarded as the major source in developing country India. In this study, we are trying to identify all possible industrial sectors at district level to quantify Hg emission load across India for the year 2019 using IPCC methodology where the country-specific technological emission factors are used.

Climate Change Exacerbated Sexual and Gender-Based Violence: Role of the Feminist Foreign Policy

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Tue, 04/02/2024 - 09:49

Feminist foreign policy (FFP) ensures the representation and participation of women both nationally and internationally. Initially, it aimed to focus on some special areas relating to women, peace, and security especially sexual violence in conflict and women's representation in the peace process. Now, the ambit has been broadened and issues relating to climate change are also included. The research has already proved that women suffer double victimization as a consequence of climate change.

Fulfilling Domestic Water Demand in Semiarid Regions of North Karnataka: Challenges and Way Forward

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Tue, 04/02/2024 - 09:44

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, under Goal 6 (SDG 6), aims to ensure universal access to water and sanitation. SDG-6.1 focuses on achieving safe drinking water for all by 2030. India's Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) targets providing tap water to rural households by 2024. This article discusses a study on water demand and availability in seven villages in Ballari and Raichur districts, North Karnataka. It reveals heavy reliance on groundwater due to inadequate surface water. Only 14% of households meet JJM standards, with projected worsening scarcity.

Making Sense of Nepal’s Nationalism: Implications for the India–Nepal Relationship

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Tue, 03/19/2024 - 12:35

The assertion of (territorial) nationalism by Nepal has serious implications on its bilateral relationship with India. Once dominant, the singular narrative of the upper-caste Hindu Parbatiya nationalism is increasingly encountering competing narratives emerging from the marginalised Janajatis and the Madhesis of Nepal. Accordingly, several nationality sentiments that were sidelined earlier have now become salient.

Tectonics of the Northwestern, Sikkim and Eastern Himalaya

During the period 2020–2024, scientific investigations in the Himalaya incorporated various geological, geochemical and geochronological aspects of evolution of this mountain, including large-scale configuration and evolutionary models, determining of major unconformities in the Lesser Himalaya, integrated structure and geochronology of major tectonic boundaries, geochemistry and U–Pb dating of the Abor Volcanics, exhumation patterns using fission track zircon and apatite.

Mineral chemistry of Mahadevpur H4/5 chondrite: characterization of nanodiamonds through micro-Raman spectroscopic studies

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Wed, 03/13/2024 - 12:32

This paper presents for the first time comprehensive spectroscopic studies on the Mahadevpur H4/5 chondrite using Electron Probe Micro Analysis (EPMA) and laser micro-Raman spectroscopic techniques. The micro-petrography reveals a coarse to medium crystalline chondritic texture with various morphological  features dispersed in a relatively medium to fine crystalline matrix, which appeared in the cover page of the journal.

A ‘South within the South’: writing from more-than-human entanglements in Guwahati, India

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Mon, 03/11/2024 - 17:25

This paper attempts to theorize from two peripheries within the Indian ‘knowledge production nexus’: one which is spatial vis-à-vis a ‘peripheral’ city; and the other which is relational vis-à-vis more-than-human relations in the city.
