From field to screen: the changing landscape of ecology research

Ecology, like physics or genomics, has reached a level of complexity that demands specialisation. Not every physicist builds detectors and not every biologist needs to chase animals through forests. Expecting all ecologists to be field naturalists may be nostalgic rather than rational.
