Frugivorous primates in temperate and subtropical regions often experience a shortage or complete absence of fruits for several months of the year. In this paper, we report the winter foraging ecology of a group of stump-tailed macaques Macaca arctoides, a species considered to be vulnerable, in one of its last lowland rainforest refuges in northeastern India, during a period when the abundance of fruits was low.
