Every city has a skyline that tells a story. Skyscrapers evolved from 55 meters in 1885 to 828 meters in 2010. The Jeddah Tower under construction in Saudi Arabia is planned to exceed 1,000 meters. India has steadily developed a vertical skyline dominated by luxury residential towers. The next generation of skyscrapers may look very different. Skyscrapers embody one of humanity's oldest ambitions: to reach higher than before.
