Abstract  This talk addresses the emerging importance of small satellites, their advantages, the drivers for their evolution and various applications. The configuration aspects and the various subsystems which constitute the spacecraft are discussed. The activity flow chart, design tools, test facility requirements, launch vehicle interfaces and ground support requirements are highlighted.

About the speaker:  Dr. R. Ranganath is an Honorary Adjunct Professor, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore. He was also the former Project Director, Space Docking Experiment (SPADEX) Project , URSC, ISRO. In his close to four decades of service career, Dr. Ranganath held various positions such as - Member, Space Robotics Experiment for Gaganyaan Programme Committee; Technical Reviewer : ASME-JMD, MMT, Robotica, JST & International/National Conferences; Peer Committee Member : Multi Agent Robotic System, CAIR , DRDO; and Zonal Vice-President South: Association of Machines and Mechanisms, 2014-2017.
