Abstract: Using the Total Economic Value (TEV) framework, the presentation aims to estimate the monetary value of various ecosystem services provided by the mangroves of the Indian Sundarbans. The assessment will focus on two key categories: Livelihood and conservation values of Mangroves in Sundarbans. Two presentations will be held to discuss the latest findings on these topics based on both secondary and primary data analysis from the Indian Sundarbans:
About the speaker: Sayantani Chakraborty is a Project Associate and a PhD researcher at the National Institute of Advanced Studies. Her research focuses on the total economic valuation of the Sundarbans ecosystem services and interaction with the local community.
Tsering Dolkar is also a Project Associate at the National Institute of Advanced Studies. Her interests include various issues in environmental economics, particularly the valuation of non-use benefits using the Contingent Valuation method.
