Our discussion will trace the recent evolution of these technologies in India, highlighting milestones, current breakthroughs, and future trends. We will examine the integration of emerging technologies into existing military frameworks, addressing both the opportunities and challenges posed by rapid technological advancements. Additionally, the talk will shed light on the collaborative efforts between governments, private sector, and academia that drive innovation in the defence sector. About the speaker: Maj Arun Sreedharan (Retd) is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in combat operations, intelligence, and business development. He is currently the Deputy Director of the Defence Technology and Innovation Program at the Centre for National Security Studies, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, where he collaborates with academia, industry, and defence forces to foster innovation and contribute to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Maj Arun holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and has significant experience in unmanned aerial systems, having worked as a Flight Operations Manager at Tata Advanced Systems Limited and a Business Development Consultant at ZMOTION Autonomous Systems Pvt Ltd. His military career includes roles as a Senior Operations Manager, Counter Insurgency Specialist, Organisation Manager, and Team Leader in the Indian Army. In addition to his technical and operational expertise, Maj Arun has founded The Impressionist Inc., a company focused on trials, demonstrations, and R&D for start-ups. He has been recognized with the GOC-in-C Commendation Card for exemplary service. Fluent in multiple languages, Maj Arun continues to drive advancements in defence technology and innovation.
