Random Heterogeneous Neurochaos Learning Architecture for Data Classification

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Tue, 02/18/2025 - 11:31

Inspired by the human brain's structure and function, Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) were developed for data classification. However, existing Neural Networks, including Deep Neural Networks, do not mimic the brain's rich structure. They lack key features such as randomness and neuron heterogeneity, which are inherently chaotic in their firing behavior. Neurochaos Learning (NL), a chaos-based neural network, recently employed one-dimensional chaotic maps like Generalized Lüroth Series (GLS) and Logistic map as neurons.

MacaqueNet: Advancing comparative behavioural research through large-scale collaboration

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Mon, 02/17/2025 - 14:53

There is a vast and ever-accumulating amount of behavioural data on individually recognised animals, an incredible resource to shed light on the ecological and evolutionary drivers of variation in animal behaviour. Yet, the full potential of such data lies in comparative research across taxa with distinct life histories and ecologies. In this multi-author paper, we introduce MacaqueNet, a global collaboration of over 100 researchers (https://macaquenet.github.io/) aimed at unlocking the wealth of cross-species data for research on macaque social behaviour.

Technological Assessment of Select Light Water Reactors to Accelerate Nuclear Power Expansion in India (NIAS/NSE/EECP/R/RR/01/2025)

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Mon, 02/17/2025 - 12:34

Large-sized nuclear power plant (NPP) units with a rated capacity of 700 MWe or more are crucial for the civilian nuclear sector since they enable efficient land utilization, and provide economies of scale, facilitating rapid capacity enhancement. However, since commercial nuclear reactors are envisaged to supply clean and affordable baseload power to the utilities, the possible technological options should be evaluated in detail through a multi-disciplinary lens.

Energy requirements for sustainable human development

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Thu, 02/13/2025 - 10:17

In this paper, we explore the relationship between sustainable energy consumption and human well-being. We estimate energy sufficiency levels for achieving Equitable Development Levels (EDL) using the quadratic plateau (QP) model for fourteen development variables related to health, education, and infrastructure for the period between 1990 and 2017. Our results show that the energy threshold necessary for securing key developmental targets is 70 GJ person−1 year−1.

Sharing the Joy of Observing Nature: A Study of Nature Walks in India

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Tue, 02/04/2025 - 10:04

This study aims to generate a comprehensive picture of the Nature Walks (NW), an informal public-involved science communication programme, conducted in India by integrating the results of newspaper analysis, internet and social media studies, examination of academic publications and participatory studies.

Occlusive Narratives: School Textbooks and National Identities

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Tue, 02/04/2025 - 09:37

This paper examines the intersectionality between education, national identity formation, and race relations. It argues that the exclusion of the socio-cultural and political narratives of the people of North-East India from the dominant nationalised school textbooks has had serious consequences, particularly in shaping the identity of North-Eastern Indians.
