Abstract: The shocking attack on 7 October 2023 by Hamas in Israel has led to a long-standing War in Gaza. The Israeli Defence Forces are on an offensive; numerous military operations have resulted in substantial collateral damage in Gaza. Despite international and institutional pressure and condemnations, Israel is continuing its military operations, and Hamas have not released the hostages. Multiple proposals have failed to stop the war; the primary actors have failed to agree to even a temporary ceasefire so far.

What led to 7 October 2023? What are Israel’s objectives in Gaza, and how successful its strategies have been during the last eight months? How has the immediate region responded to the War? What have been the global responses? What next?
