About the Speaker: Anushyama Mukherjee is an Assistant Professor of Sociology, St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. Her areas of interest are migrations, social planning, urban mobilities and spaces, and homelands both temporary and permanent. She has completed PhD in Sociology at the University of Hyderabad on the Hadrami migration to the Gulf countries. She has also completed her Post-Doctorate at the Centre for Urban Policy and Governance, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Anushyama has written articles on Hadramis in Hyderabad have appeared in journals such as Economic and Political Weekly, Sociological Bulletin, Routledge International and edited books. Recently she has contributed to an international edited volume on cities and feminist planning focusing on Kolkata.
