Abstract: Concepts related to measurement, script, symbol, archaeology, among ancient civilizations are important in the cultural formation and have been in use from the pre-Periper Brilic period and more particularly among the ancient civilizations or city societies. Use of measurement systems is evidenced from the time of the Harappan civilization and body parts were used for measuring dimensions. Ancient Indian texts including Archaeology of India, prehistory, heritage management, maritime history and Sangam literature. He associated with the archaeological sites at Budhbal, Kodumanal, Kukadu, Arikamedu, Piilayarpatti, Pattanan, Valam, Ambal, Nangur.
