Sri Lanka’s energy and economic crises, starting in early 2022, snowballed into a political crisis, with protests in the streets bringing the country to a standstill. Pakistan has been witnessing economic and political crises during the last two years. Afghanistan and Myanmar have both witnessed undemocratic change and a return to the 1990s; the current regimes in both countries are undermining the little achievements that occurred over the last decade. There are early signs that Nepal will be slipping into an economic crisis as well.

After going through democratic elections during the last decade and witnessing changes in government, why are the states in India's neighbourhood in crisis today? What are the contours of these crises? What has caused them and are they common across the neighbourhood? How does one map the crises? Can a forecast be made of how they would spiral/weaken in the days to come?
