The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) is the leading agency working under the Central Government that looks after environment-related issues in India. Apart from MoEF&CC, the Supreme Court of India (SC) and the National Green Tribunal (NGT) play a crucial role in regard to protecting the environment, climate change, and other environment-related issues. The actions taken and roles played during the past year (January to December 2022) by the MoEF&CC, the SC, and the NGT have been discussed in this article.

The Cost of Climate Change Heightened Sexual and Gender-Based Violence: A Challenge for International Law

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Wed, 09/20/2023 - 10:06

By 2050 climate change could see 4% of global annual economic output lost to the tune of $23 trillion and may hit many poorer parts of the world disproportionately. Though entire populations are affected by climate change, women and girls suffer the most. In an ominous sign, in some countries, the cost of SGBV is staggering and it accounts for up to 3.7% of the GDP. It is more than double what most of the States spend on education.  Climate change and SGBV cause economic loss for States, societies and families both individually and jointly.

Role of Women in Sustainable Soil Management: Some Legal Reflections

There is a close relationship between soil health and women. If there is soil erosion, women are directly affected both like all other human beings as well as due to their gender or sex. They face double victimization irrespective of their age. Women play a crucial role in sustainable soil management (SSM) that ensures women’s empowerment including food, economic and social security. Both come under the ambit of Goals 5 and 15 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030.

Moon Missions:The Way Ahead

Submitted by super admin (not verified) on Wed, 08/30/2023 - 17:01

The lunar missions gained impetus in the 21st century after decades of lull. The newer sprite in lunar missions began with orbiter and impact missions, which included India’s moon -impact probe onboard the Chandrayaan 1, in 2008. Subsequent robotic missions included orbiters, landers and rovers as well as sample collection missions. The Lunar south polar regions which is under permanent shadow is expected to have reserves of water-ice, essential for lunar habitation and as a source for future deep space missions(space) operating from lunar surface.

Understanding entire Ethnic Conflict dynamic in Manipur

Abstract   The politics of ethnic conflict engulfed the discourse of global politics which has been threatening the existence of humankind in general and particularly the helpless ethnic minority. India’s Northeastern Region is no exception to the viral politics of ethnic conflict. In the case of Manipur, the ethnic diversities invariably put the state into a battle ground for asserting identity politics. The state has been construed by various scholars as a weak state portraying every characteristic of failed state.
