Abstract Turnitin is a widely used software to detect and prevent plagiarism. It is a tool for educators and institutions to ensure academic integrity and originality in student work. The software works by comparing submitted papers to an extensive database of scholarly articles, papers, books, and internet sources. Turnitin generates a report highlighting the matched content when similarities are found, allowing instructors to determine if the matches are properly cited or represent potential plagiarism. Over the years, Turnitin has expanded its features to include grading tools and feedback mechanisms to streamline the review process and enhance educational outcomes. Despite its effectiveness, Turnitin has sparked discussions about privacy concerns, the definition of plagiarism, and the importance of teaching students to think critically and cite sources correctly.
