Abstract: There is a divergence in the perception of innovations between scientists and economists. Scientists evaluate innovations primarily in terms of how much it can alter natural processes while economists are more concerned about the effects of innovations on growth. This talk will place the work of the 2025 Nobel laureates in the context of economists’ understanding of the relationship between innovation and growth.
Speaker: Narendar Pani is the JRD Tata Chair Visiting Professor at the National Institute of Advanced Studies. An economist by training he has, for four and a half decades, explored multiple dimensions of Indian political economy with a focus on inequality.
