The need to protect the geological heritage by introducing legislation

This study presented two case studies—the Jigokudani Monkey Park, Japan, and the Telaga Warna Nature Recreational Park, Indonesia—where the authors provided quantitative assessments of people’s motivations for visiting managed (monkey parks) and unmanaged (incidental) monkey tourism sites. They further showed that management regimes, socio-demographic attributes, previous experience of interactions with macaques, and feeding them play a role in people’s desire to visit macaque tourism sites.

The present work reports the actual ground conditions prevalent at a fish landing center in Northern Odisha, namely, Talsari in the aftermath of the cyclone “Yaas”, which made landfall on May 26th, 2021. The coastal vulnerability and the impacts of the cyclone are discussed.

To survive and persist in fragmented, human-dominated landscapes, especially in the Anthropocene, elephants often need to modify their behavior. In this chapter, using empirical data, the authors assess the behavioral adaptability of elephants, as determined by their innate biological variables, such as age, sex, and grouping patterns at the population level, and discuss the impacts of global climatic changes on the behavior and distribution of Asian elephants, as evidenced through their own studies.

Till August 30th, 2021, a whopping number of 21.75 crore people have been known to be infected globally by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, and 45.19 lakh people have succumbed to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Research has shown that progressive fibrotic lung disease is one of the possible consequences of pulmonary pneumonia induced by the novel coronavirus and is one of the most worrisome complications following the recovery from the COVID-19. Considering its importance and sensitivity in the human body, lung performance is a good indicator for understanding the host tolerance to infectious diseases. Therefore, in lung functionality, the discussions revolving around pulmonary fibrosis are even more relevant.
